Posters for our show with Supercheri at Tennis Bar next Wednesday are up all over Neukölln and Juan is set to tackle Friedrichshain and adjacent boroughs this afternoon.
Meanwhile, I’ve had an awful lot to say to Italian music blog Triste Sunset: About the recording of In Giraffe last year in France and some of the songs on it, as well as about the various songs I compiled into a mixtape for them. Among those are songs by our young Heavenly Creature label mates The Cords, Berlin friends Slipper and Scottish indie legends The Pastels. If you’ve been dying to find out about the origin of our band name, now’s your chance to. Other topics discussed were riot grrrl, Jonathan Richman and polyamory and many, many more.
For the users among you, I’ve also seen to making the mixtape plus some bonus songs that I name-checked in the article available on Spotify as a playlist.
I would like to invite you to check it all out.
Speaking of invitations, there are two shows happening in Berlin this weekend that I’d like to recommend:
- The Xacklebox tape release show on Saturday at West Germany with DJ Dingo Susi and Volcano Victims, presented by Kitchen Leg Records.
- And on Sunday, The Sunday Matinee #80 at Zaubergarten (riight) with Folgen, Aunt and The Garlic We Crush. As always, doors at 4. And, also as always, smoke-free and wheelchair-accessible.
Say hi if you make it out to either.
And if you’re currently somewhere else in Germany, there’s a chance you’ll get to see Slipper and Matching Outfits on their tour together somewhere nearby in the next few days. They’re in Leipzig at NBL tonight.
Until then, enjoy listening and reading!
Bye Bye,
Jonathan
