Last Friday we’ve released the fantastic new Grief Scene album Minoans on my new label Delikassetten Records. Please give it a listen and if you’re in Berlin this weekend, join us in Neukölln at Artistania at the release show this Friday night. Besides Grief Scene, we’ll have Jaguar No Me (Japanese cinematic psych) and Bad Dates (indie-schmindie) and Juan and I will dj—with a set of “international indie classics” (quote Juan C.)!
Right the day after, this upcoming Saturday, the 19th, we’re having another of our one-off Saturday Soirées with the Sunday Matinee crew at Villa Kuriosum. On stage, we’ll have Ultramega from Barcelona (cacophonic noise punk, if I may say so), Frau Fisch (“electro poetry”, Berlin) and Chiseling Clouds (ambient drone experimental, Berlin). Kriss Kremig (of Jour Fixe) is gonna spin records from his collection of rare funk records, a Matinee (well, Soiree) debut!
I’ve long had this idea of bringing Scottish bands over to Berlin and next Saturday, the 26th, we’ll have a first go! DOSS (punk/hip hop, in a non-crossover sense, I guess) from Glasgow are stopping by Berlin for a show at OGH, with their touring buddies Crop Rot (post-hardcore? grunge?) from Louisville, KY and we’ve paired them off with our own Adventure Team. Spread the word and come on out to help me give them a warm Berlin welcome.
The following day, the 27th, our friends Matching Outfits will release their new album Ditch Me (Bar/None Records, hell yeah!) with a release show at Kulturhaus Insel, so we’ll also see you all there.
Other than that, we went back to Scotland last month and it was really fun. Missing everyone already. Around the same time, we contributed our up until then unreleased song “I Couldn’t Help But Notice” to the 2nd Loud and Clear sampler of Berlin musicians in solidarity with Palestine.
Thanks for reading, hopefully see you out there now.
Yours, Jonathan
